A stylish Vancouver winery wedding at La Fabrique St George

After capturing Amelia and Adam’s fall wedding at La Fabrique St George, I can confidently say this is one of my favourite wedding venues in Vancouver. Not only is it a lot of fun to hold a Vancouver winery wedding, but it’s even better when the couple is as cool, relaxed and beautiful as these two.

Adam and Amelia were referred to me by Emily and Brett, whose Gastown wedding I had previously captured. They shared their venue and their vision with me, explaining that they wanted to prioritize time with loved ones over posed portraits.

While we still squeezed in a few portraits, the emphasis was absolutely on capturing the genuine moments of joy and connection between A & A and their guests.

Prioritizing candid moments with loved ones

To set the tone for the intimate and relaxed atmosphere Adam and Amelia wanted to create, they held an unofficial cocktail hour before their ceremony.

This allowed them to mingle with their guests and seamlessly transition into their ceremony without any unnecessary pomp and circumstance. The whole thing felt so effortless!

Even their portraits before the ceremony felt more like a group of friends hanging out and creating memories, rather than stiff, posed shots.

That relaxed and guest-first experience continued into Adam and Amelia’s official cocktail hour, reception and, of course, onto the dance floor!

“Aileen was an amazing photographer for our wedding. Professional, fun, easy going, and SO talented at capturing real candid moments. She went above and beyond!”

Working with moody lighting

I knew La Fabrique St George was known for their moody lighting, which is exactly the kind of challenge I love as a wedding photographer.

To make sure I was prepared, I visited the venue a few weeks before the wedding to test out my lighting. I wanted to be able to capture the right ambiance without being disruptive.

In the end, I’m so proud of how the images from Amelia and Adam’s day turned out. Not only was I able to catch so many genuine moments of connection - such as speech reactions and big hugs - but I also felt the overall vibe of the wedding really came through in their photography.

My #1 tip for planning your wedding at La Fabrique St George

If you want to host your own Vancouver winery wedding, I highly recommend checking out La Fabrique St George. I love this space and there’s nothing else like it in the city!

This venue is unique and beautiful, with a really cozy atmosphere that makes it perfect for intimate weddings. My number one tip to embrace the space and enjoy it to its fullest is to make sure you’re not maxing out capacity.

I always suggest staying at least 10 people under the max capacity in smaller wedding venues. That way you, your guests and your vendors can flow through the space comfortably. This is especially key at La Fabrique St George, as you don’t want to overwhelm such a stylish space with too many people!

“Aileen is both an amazing photographer and an amazing person. She was super easy to work with and really put us at ease. We didn’t give her much direction and she matched that laid back approach, had lots of ideas to offer, and was able to capture so many wonderful moments. Her editorial style suited us so well and we couldn’t be more pleased with how the pictures turned out. I’d recommend Aileen to anyone looking for a photographer.”
