From start to finish, Sam and Shane’s wedding day was so relaxed and full of calm energy. Their family and friends were so welcoming, making me feel like I was a part of their crew. Even though they didn’t have a wedding party, it didn’t mean they had to get ready alone - Sam + Shane had their closest friends join them in the getting ready process, making the morning more enjoyable and fun! After the dress was put on, and the shoes were tied, Shane excitedly waited for Sam to meet him in Van Dusen Gardens for their first look. These two were all smiles once they saw each other for the first time on their wedding day and it was the cutest thing ever! We took some portraits of just the two of them around the beautiful gardens, where every turn was a perfect spot for photos. Van Dusen offers a range of locations to shoot at; from draping willow trees, to open fields, to blooming flowers, they have it all.

Their wedding was held at the Shaughnessy Restaurant located inside the gardens. I love that their patio is covered but still lets in lots of light, making it a great undercover option in Raincouver! Sam and Shane’s wedding was in June but you truly never know what the weather will be like. Luckily, it was a typical Summer day so their photos glowed from the warm sun! For their first kiss photos, and some of their vow exchange photos, I’m glad I had the opportunity to climb up on a bench in front of them and capture an angle where all their guests could be seen behind them. Note to all couples: If possible, leave space between you and your ceremony arch so your photographer can get this angle so you can see all your guests’ expressions!

This venue has become one of my favourites after this wedding because it lets in so much gorgeous natural light, and the hospitality there was exceptional! Oh, and the food is amazing. What more do you need?
